Reflexology

Reflexology is the art of healing through stimulation of nerves and reflex points located in the feet to bring about a state of balance within the body. It is an ancient practice which can be linked right back to 2330 B.C in China and in 2350 B.C in Egypt as depicted in the tomb of Ankmahor. In India, similar paintings have been found depicting the feet which show similar points to those used in modern day Reflexology.

It is important to note that Reflexology is not a cure for a medical condition, however the positive effect it has in bringing about a state of deep relaxation can often help to alleviate symptoms and provide an analgesic effect.

Reflexology can be used safely in helping many people to bring about psychological and physical wellbeing. The following list suggests a few conditions that can be helped but is not exhaustive:

  • Stress and Anxiety
  • Digestive issues and IBS
  • Insomnia
  • Fertility
  • Musculoskeletal pain
  • Rheumatic pain
  • Premenstrual syndrome
  • Headaches

  • Hayfever and allergies
  • Alleviation of nausea and pain associated with chemotherapy treatment *
  • Pregnancy aches and pains

*N.B – prior consent from GP may be required.

Reflexology is not recommended in the first trimester of pregnancy, however can be used thereafter to help alleviate the aches and pains which can result during this time. Certain medical conditions may require prior GP consent in order to treat, please contact me directly prior to booking to discuss this and I will be happy to advise accordingly.

Lastly, Reflexology is a wonderful way to switch off, leave your cares at the door and give the body some well needed relaxation and time to restore equilibrium in order to meet life’s demands more effectively.
